Bones found at Musselburgh Links

Bones unearthed by council workers at Musselburgh Links, taken away by police forensic officers for examination, are archaeological, not recent.

The remains - believed to include a skull - were discovered when park maintenance staff were digging a hole on the golf course, close to Mrs Forman’s pub, around midday on Tuesday.

A police cordon was set up around the hole while officers examined the area and removed the remains.

East Lothian Council, which owns the land, said: “As part of our winter work programme on the golf course, council staff were excavating the front of a grass bunker close to the fourth green, ‘Foremans.’
