Bereavement support group expands into East Lothian

A bereavement support programme will be launched in Haddington next month.

Open to anyone experiencing the death of a loved one but particularly those mid-way through their first year of loss, ‘Acorns’ is free and offers practical help and group support over a six week period.

The programme has been running in Edinburgh for almost three years and has been welcomed Edinburgh Council, Lothian Hospitals, the Maggie’s Centre, NHS 24’s help-line service, ‘Breathing Space’ and the Marie Curie and St Columba’s Hospices.

Following positive feedback from participants and interest from caring, social and medical services in East Lothian, Acorns has decided to move into East Lothian.

Meetings will be held in the community room at Haddington library in the John Gray Centre at Lodge Street on Monday afternoons from November 5 to December 10. Each session, lasting from 2.30pm to 4pm, will start with tea and coffee.
