Backing for new restaurant

A new restaurant and bar facility at a historic walled garden at Archerfield estate near Dirleton is being toasted.

Archerfield Estates Limited was granted a provisional licence for the Archerfield Alehouse & Gardens at a meeting of East Lothian Licensing Board.

Members heard that the walled garden site hadn’t been in use for sometime and it had been decided to put in a restaurant area with a view to providing meals and bar facilities. It was hoped to host receptions and put up a marquee in the garden which would be used three or four times a year.
