Labour members and supporters held a street stall on Tranent High Street and spoke to people about the campaign for a No vote at the independence referendum.

Fa’side councillor Shamin Akhtar said: “This area has a long and proud Labour tradition.

“We are working hard to get across our view that a big No vote in September, followed by the election of a Labour government next May, offers the best route to improving people’s lives here.

“The positive response we received suggests that the majority of local people are already very receptive to that message, but we will keep making the case for a No vote right up to September 18.”
