Steven Hughes swapped the controls of his council digger for a pair of hairdressing scissors to make the first snips of his daughter’s charity haircut.

After five years of growing her hair in memory of her granny, Mima Hughes, who died of cancer, Kirsty (12) decided to have 20 inches of it cut off at Looks Hair Design in Haddington for the Little Princess Trust.

In less than five weeks, she raised more than £1,400 in sponsorship to help the charity support more children.
