A 12-year-old girl is preparing to get a special haircut for charity at a Haddington salon to help children afflicted with cancer.

Kirsty Hughes is donating her 28-inch blonde locks to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children across the UK who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

The youngster has been growing her hair since she was seven, when her granny, Mima Hughes, died of cancer.
