Cockenzie Primary School’s new head teacher has made a “strong” start to the role, according to an Education Scotland report.

Jacqui Mackinnon has earned inspectors’ praise for her “positive” impact and for identifying what the school needs to do to improve.

The report said the school’s other strengths were the polite and well-behaved children who enjoy learning at school and the readiness of staff to improve the school under the head teacher’s leadership.

Education Scotland has called for improvement in the school’s curriculum and a raising of expectations of what all children can achieve.
