East Lothian’s MSPs clash over fuel poverty statistics

Two local MSPs have clashed over fuel poverty and its effect on households.

Iain Gray (Lab) believes 11,000 East Lothian households are struggling to keep their homes warm.

But Colin Beattie (SNP) said: “Iain Gray may claim that ‘thousands more Scots slip into fuel poverty’, but the Scottish Fuel Poverty Forum’s final report showed that, in 2012, the number of households in fuel poverty had actually fallen by 74,000 to 647,000 since 2011.
