East Lothian’s celebrated conservationist, John Muir, has been carved a deserving place among Scotland’s literary elite.

The world-famous natural scientist and campaigner from Dunbar was commemorated at Makars’ Court in Edinburgh last week with the unveiling of an inscribed flagstone by the Provost of East Lothian, Councillor Ludovic Broun-Lindsay, and pupils from Dunbar Primary School.

The area celebrates the achievements of Scottish writers, with an inscription from each set in the paving around the Writers’ Museum.
