Police seek Tranent bus pervert

An 18-year-old Tranent woman has been left "extremely distressed" after being subjected to an indecent assault on a late night bus journey home.
Following the incident, which took place on Saturday, April 12 at about 11.20pm, police have released a description of her attacker.

He is believed to be white, around 5ft tall and in his early 60s with a stocky build.

Balding, with white hair, he was wearing a black suit and purple shirt at the time of the alleged assault.

A police spokesman told the News: "An 18-year old Tranent woman was travelling on the Lothian service bus number 44 from Milton Road, Edinburgh to Tranent.

Witnesses

"An elderly male, who was sitting with her subjected her to indecent advances and indecently assaulted her.

"Police are aware that a number of passengers were concerned regarding the behaviour of this individual and ask that they contact the police as they have valuable information as witnesses.

"The victim was extremely distressed by this assault. Anyone with information should contact police on 0131 311 3131."
