A Gullane woman who was injured by a lion last summer was shocked and upset to hear of the recent death of a fellow worker at the same popular wildlife park in New Zealand.

Lisa Baxter, who will celebrate her 20th birthday on Tuesday, June 16, was given the sad news by her mum Heather who telephoned her in Mexico where she is now working as a dolphin trainer.

A New Zealand newspaper reported on the death of Dalu Mncube (26) from Africa after he was mauled by a tiger as he cleaned its enclosure at the Zion Wildlife Gardens in Whangarei which were associated with television's Lion Man.

The animal was shot dead.

It was while working at the same park last summer that Lisa, of Hall Crescent, was bitten by a one-and-a-half year old African White Lion which she stressed was not at fault.
