Residents in Cockenzie and Port Seton are being encouraged to find out more about the variety of plants grown locally, both in public and private gardens.
Cockenzie and Port Seton In Bloom is taking part in Scottish Biodiversity Week, organised by Scottish Natural Heritage from May 19 to 26 to focus on the country's unique landscape and wildlife

The local group will highlight two award-winning gardens — the Secret Garden and Memorial Garden — by setting up information boards describing some of the plants which grow in them.

Impressed

It is hoped that passers-by will read these and that local people will make a special trip to the gardens to learn more about what is on their doorstep.

Judges for the In Bloom group's spring garden competition, the result of which will be announced soon, were impressed by the diversity of plants in the gardens they looked at.

Members of the community are also invited to fund-raising plant sale and coffee morning being organised by the In Bloom group at the Nursery Garden, Cockenzie, on Saturday, May 17 from 10am.
