Safety advice has been issued by Dunbar coastguards after children were seen playing near dangerous rocks.

The person spotted four youngsters playing in the sea just off the East Beach recently. The worried caller, who dialled 999, was anxious that the incoming tide would cut them off.

Five coastguards attended and found that this time the children were not in immediate danger but were unsupervised and playing close to dangerous rocks.

They spoke to the youngsters about being safe at the coast.

Iain McDougall, station officer, stressed: "If you are concerned about the safety of anyone on the coast or out at sea, always phone the coastguard."

He added: "It's important that all visitors to our shore think about their safety."
