Children and staff at Dunbar Primary School raised £1,044 for a local church youth project by having a dress down day.
The Dunbar Area Christian Youth Project employs youth worker Richard Taylor to work with local young people through schools, outreach work and special projects in the town.
He offers practical support to the primary school such as school camps, tr
aining the school cross-country team and teaching film and animation skills at no cost to the school.
The project also contributes to the religious education of children through classes and school assemblies, and Richard also runs a popular Bible club called the Bible Brainiac's.
The dress down day was the school's way of showing its ongoing support of the project that is currently trying to secure an extra three years funding.
Richard would like to thank all the children, parents and staff who have supported his work.
He said: I am overwhelmed by the show of support shown by so many people. The school has a strong community feel to it and it is a privilege to work with them.
It is important that on behalf of the local churches I am able to help the school in different ways, and not only through religious education."
Throughout the last year the project has been involved in a range of initiatives such as a youth programme with the John Muir Birthplace Trust, a community survey, summer camps, youth groups and street based outreach work.
