A NEW sculpture by acclaimed Scottish artist Andy Scott has been unveiled in Prestonpans.

Best known for the Heavy Horse on the M8 and 33ft Arria sculpture in Cumbernauld, Andy Scott is well established in the public art scene and has recently been commissioned to create the Kelpies near Falkirk – one of the largest equine sculptures in the world.

The three metre galvanized steel sculpture in Prestonpans — his first permanent piece of public art in the East of Scotland — was commissioned as an iconic centrepiece of the new Athena Grange property development.

Yet to be named, the sculpture is heavily influenced by the name of the development and its association with the mythological goddess of wisdom, Athena.
