Sea tales and songs at North Berwick
Storyteller Lea Taylor.
Adults are invited to attend an event being held at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick where they will be taken on a mythical journey exploring ‘The Great Selkie of Sule Skerry.’
Singer/storyteller Lea Taylor and harpist/storyteller Heather Yule will present a programme of haunting songs and stories at ‘Songs and Stories from the Sea’ on Thursday, February 16, at 7pm.
The narrative written by Lea explores the Great Selkie – an eerie ballad from the Shetland Isles, harking back to Scandinavian roots and the shape shifting story of a man/seal.
Heather, who lives in East Lothian, said: “For me, storytelling and the clarsach are well-matched bedfellows and I love combing the two in my work. At Songs and Stories of the Sea, I will bring Lea’s images and narrative to life and with the centre as a location, I’m feeling very inspired.”
The event is recommended for adults but is suitable for children aged eight and over. It will take place in the Wildlife Theatre from 7pm to 9pm. To book tickets, call the centre on 01620 890202 or purchase them from the admissions desk. Tickets are limited.
