Fresh from celebrating its 30th anniversary and launching a CD last year, Haddington Pipe Band is planning a cross-channel trip to Haddington’s French twin town in July.

The musicians, regular visitors to Aubigny-sur-Nere, will take part in the annual Franco-Scottish Festival — the Fête Franco-Ecossaises — where they are assured of a rousing reception as they take part in the parades and celebrations.

A good sized band will travel to France to repay the compliment made by the Aubigny Pipe Band which brought a large number of supporters to visit Haddington last year.

Pipe Major David Leckie said: “Those who have been to Aubigny in previous years will know just what an amazing and thrilling experience this is for all involved. Aubigny is a beautiful town, and there’s always a real carnival atmosphere for the festival.”
