New work by wildlife artist Carol Barrett from her field trips to Africa, above, will be on show at the Donald Watson Gallery in Waterston House, the HQ of the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club, near Aberlady, from Saturday, February 25, to Wednesday, April 4.

Artist in Residence for the Cheetah Conservation Fund, she combines wildlife art with wildlife conservation.

A previous Artist in Residence for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, Ms Barrett was also short-listed by the BBC Wildlife Magazine in 2009 and the Wildlife Artist of the Year Exhibition in 2011.

In her first exhibition for 2012 and her second solo event at the Donald Watson Gallery, her paintings and drawings of wild animals, drawn from life in Africa, will be shown. From detailed animal portraits to groups of animals in the African landscape, the exhibition will reveal what she has been studying and drawing for more than 20 years.

The gallery is open from 10am to 4pm daily, seven days a week.
