Hoping to profit from best in food
Nearly a dozen local producers have already registered to exhibit at the Fresh Profit from East Lothian trade event at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Edinburgh, on March 12.
Chefs and buyers from Edinburgh and the Lothians are invited to attend to meet and speak to producers to discuss their requirements and learn about what is available in the county.
Fiona Edgar, Business Growth Officer with East Lothian Council, said: “We aim to show chefs and buyers how they can profit from purchasing locally.”
Already signed up to take part are: Belhaven Smokehouse Ltd which specialises in fresh, smoked and marinated salmon and trout; Black & Gold which grows oil seed rape at Stevenson Mains Farm; Brodie Melrose Drysdale & Co Ltd, coffee roasters and tea blenders; James Dickson & So, fishmonger; Phantassie Food, vegetable grower and seller; S Luca of Musselburgh, ice cream makers: Scots Cheer Ltd, a family-run company which produces real fruit liqueurs; The Chocolate Tree which makes hand crafted chocolates; Thistly Cross Cider; Yester Farm Dairy; and Glenkinchie Distillery.
