Council up for national award

East Lothian Council is in line for a top UK award in recognition of its efforts to improve performance and service delivery.

It has been shortlisted in the ‘most improved council’ category in this year’s Local Government Chronicle Awards, the winners of which will be announced in London in March.

Two of the judges toured the county last week and met councillors, council employees and representatives from a range of partner organisations.

The council is the only Scottish local authority to reach the shortlist in this category and is up against some tough opposition, with Cornwall, Oldham, Rochdale, Surrey and Warrington Councils also making it into the final.
